Chris Banks - Zoos Victoria
Chris manages Zoos Victoria’s international conservation partnerships, which includes 6 conservation partnerships with non-government organisations, 3 sister zoos (sharing staff skills and passions) and an annual grants program.
Of particular note to those working on our projects in Uganda, Zoos Victoria has a strong partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (Entebbe Zoo).
The partnership will expand over the next couple of years to support their Conservation Education program across Uganda and work with communities developing ecotourism and a community centre in Makanaga Wetland near Entebbe.
Rhino Fund Uganda
In partnership with Rhino Fund Uganda, the only rhinos in Uganda have Zoos Victoria on their side.
In Uganda, the last Northern White Rhino was killed in 1983. Rhino Fund Uganda's mission is clear: to bring the rhinoceros back to Uganda. In a plan endorsed by the Ugandan Government and rhino experts, Rhino Fund Uganda plans to reestablish rhinos in the wild in Uganda through a breeding program that uses the very closely-related Southern White Rhinoceros.
Zoos Victoria is assisting Rhino Fund Uganda to fulfill their mission by supporting their rangers to provide 24/7 care and monitoring of the rhinos across the 7,000ha of bush and scrub; community engagement activities; and also educating the children of the rangers who would not otherwise have access to education.

Covid Safety
There is a requirement that all patrons at the Bleakhouse (and most other venues) are fully vaccinated. Please ensure you have your certificate on your phone. Appropriate seating density limits will also be followed.
Door Charge
There is a $5 entry fee for this event, payable at the door. Cash and EFTPOS are available.
